Hajj is full of many of the scenes of humanitarian advocacy that Muslims are keen on observing. Among these are the following: 1. The attention of Islam for human rights as found in the farewell sermon. It is no secret that the human being; male or female, is the focus of life on this earth, and that this universe- the earth, the space and the oceans-are made subservient to him as said by Allah in Jaathiyah: verse no.13:
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِّنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ .
“And He has subjected to you, as from Him, all that is in the heavens and on earth: Behold, in that are Signs indeed for those who reflect.”
From the above we realize the extent of the importance of human beings, and the extent of the honor Islam confer on him, ensuring his safety and what will make man achieve happiness, through what has been legitimized for him of rights:
وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا
We have honored the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favors, above a great part of our creation. (Isra: 70 ).
The Prophet’s sermon at the farewell pilgrimage included most prominent human rights in our time, such as: the right to life and physical integrity, mind and honor, and the right to equality in the origin of creation and human dignity, the right to liberty and others ... it came in the sermon of the Prophet - peace be upon him in the Farewell Pilgrimage in front of over a hundred thousand Muslims: "O people, the Lord is one, and your father is one, no preference to Arabs over non-Arabs and to non-Arabs, nor to red over blacks , nor to black over red except in piety. And surely your wealth, and your blood and your honor are sanctified like the sanctity of this city of yours and in this month of yours.
2 care of Islam for women's rights and her honor in the farewell sermon: the woman before Islam was without rights, unimportant in the community. Islam came and endowed upon her rights that was like honors from Allah to her which includes: the right to life, after she used to be buried alive for fear of shame, and the right to own property, inheritance, learning, working, litigation, and choose her life partner. A complete chapter was reveal in the glorious Qur’an named as “the chapter of women”. In this chapter some of her rights were stipulated. Also in the Farewell sermon the holy Prophet stood - peace be upon him –in front of tens of thousands of Muslim pilgrims recommending women, and ordering them to take good care of women and preserve their rights, even he peace and blessings of Allah be upon him advised his followers towards kindness towards women while in the throes of death.
3 the call to equality in the human society in the Farewell sermon: Islam is a religion of cooperation, orderliness and progress, hence, the Prophet’s sermon - peace be upon him – was on the universal nature of humans, as he called in the tens of thousands of his companions : O people, your Lord is but One, and your father is one, therefore no preference to Arabs over non-Arabs nor to non-Arabs over Arabs, neither to the red over blacks, nor to blacks over the red except in only piety [3]. It is not hidden that the basis of this is the verse:
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا ۚ إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ
O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things). In another verse, it came thus:” We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures”(Anbiya:107). It was reported of the Prophet peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: “the creation are family-slaves-of Allah, the beloved of them to Allah are the most beneficial to His Family”
This explains to us what the Islamic history is comprised of the diversity of the Islamic civilization in the areas of human origin, and that those who participated in the formation of this civilization comprises of geniuses, leaders and conquerors, scientists, inventors, scholars, judges, writers and others, who are of various races and nationalities, the Arab Among them, and Persian and Abyssinian, and turkeys, and Berbers such as Khaled ibn al-Walid Arab, and Bilal the Abyssinian, and Salman the Persian, and Tariq ibn Ziyad Berber, and others such as Bukhari, and al-Tabari, Ibn Khaldun, and Al-Khwarizmi and al-Biruni, and Ibn al-Haitham, and Omar Khayyam, Ibn Sina and al-Razi, and many others who have contributed to the growth of the Islamic civilization and its prosperity, so much so that human civilization has become blessed with all the intellectual and cultural virtues.
But for other cultures even in our contemporary world, there still some racism and intolerance of nationalism in the expense of other nationals, or to a race at the expense of another race, and this saying of "Renan" one of the most prominent thinkers of the West confirms this: "it is only one race that produce the heroes and leaders, and that is the European race”.
Until recently, the subject of the black and white skinned was a subject of despotism with many Westerners. They (blacks) were prevented from boarding public transport and entering restaurant which were used by white people, and were even used to be denied attending churches meant for white people.
