My dear brother! Just take a look at the clock, how the seconds hand moves without a stop. The time moves so fast at a very steady rate and no one can stop it. And all these seconds, minutes and hours are but part and parcel of our life span. They are documented for or against us according to what we get doing in them. Let's engage in what will be beneficial to us and stay clear of that which will bring us shame before thy Lord.
Even if most part of this blessed month is over and gone, there is still left the most important part of it, the best portion of the entire month.
The prophet (PBUH) was reported to have taken these last ten days so serious that he would struggle in them in a manner not precedent and never seen in any other times of the year. This is a man who had his sins, both the ever committed and yet to commit, forgiven by Allah. What then should be of us that sin every now and then and have no such guarantee of forgiveness of the sins?! So let's do our best, perhaps Allah would have mercy on us.
Aishat (Allah be pleased with her) was reported to have said that "The prophet (PBUH) would mix in the first twenty nights between sleep and prayers. But when the last ten comes, he struggles much harder."
This and many other ahadith of its nature tell us how seriously this last ten days should be taken. One should get engaged in all kinds of acts of obedience to Allah and get the best from the rewards of these days.
The prophet (PBUH) is the best of model for us to emulate. He used to wake his family at night in Ramadan to pray. Thus, it is most shameful and painful to see many of us pass away the magnificent hours of these nights in worthless things and even sinful acts.
Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) said that the prophet would stay awake all these last nights of Ramadan. He does this to get the honour of the Night of Destiny. This night of Destiny is in the last ten nights of Ramadan. This makes one of the greatest characteristics and uniqueness of this month this Night is better than a thousand months. A night in which the angels of Allah with the Arch Angel inclusive, all storm the earth under the commands of Allah and all that will be and happen in the next year decreed.
That is the night the prophet (PBUH) was reported to have said that anyone who is deprived of its good has in fact been deprived of all that is good. Some scholars counted the number of years that could be got from one thousand months and they found it to be more than eighty years. What an enormous mercy bestowed upon this nation by Allah..
He (PBUH) was reported to have said that "Whoever stands in prayer in the Night of Destiny with faith and actually seeking Allah's reward, will have all his sins forgiven." And this Night is in the Last Ten days of Ramadan. He (PBUH) said "Search for the Night of Majesty in the last ten nights of Ramadan." It is also must probably to fall in the odd nights of the last ten nights.
Allah for the best of wisdom hid this night from us. This is in a way to make us struggle and indulge in good acts and worship all through the ten nights. It is also a way to distinguish the serious ones from the unserious and lazy types. This could be related to the words of the prophet (PBUH) that the route to Jannah is filled with hardship and the Jannah itself is expensive to get. Thus he said: "Whoever fears should start his movement in the earliest part of the morning; and whoever does that will surely get to his destiny; Hear me out! The commodity of Allah is expensive and that commodity is Jannah."
It becomes clear that Jannah is not meant for those who sleep away all their time without struggling to work for reward just like that person who wants to arrive his destiny on time does by embarking on his journey as early as possible. It is very known that great hieght are not reached with pleasure.
So lets utilize these last ten days in serious worship of Allah, less sleep and more worshiping. May Allah ease our affairs.
