Ramadan harvests: The greatest thing a Muslim should receive Ramadan with
Verily, sincere repentance to Allah from all sins and evils is considered the greatest thing a Muslim should receive this blessed month; for every son of Adam commits sin and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent. There is no doubt that seeking repentance is obligatory on all Muslims, at all times and from all sins. However, in this blessed season its obligation is stronger and the repentance is more likely to be accepted. It is also more likely to wipe away his sins, reduce his mistakes and protect him from falling into errors. In fact, it is more likely to convert his sins into good rewards by Allah’s bounties. Hence, my Advice to my brothers and sisters is for them to hasten to repent to Allah from all their past sins and evil deeds.
Ramadan harvests: Paradise is not earned through sleep and laziness
Paradise is indeed expensive O my beloved ones. Hence, it is not earned through sleep, laziness, play and perpetually following ones vain desires. One has to strive in the obedience and worship of Allah and compete in doing good deeds, and hasten to do long lasting righteous deeds. This is the time strive and work hard, and the successful one is the one guided by Allah and the deprived is the deprived by Allah. We refuge with Allah from deprivation and desertion and we ask Him for His guidance in the affairs of this world and the hereafter.
Ramadan harvests: the aim of Fasting
One of the pious predecessors was asked about some people who strived in worship and prayers in Ramadan but when Ramadan is gone they stop and he said: what a bad people are those who do not know Allah except in Ramadan!
One of the pious predecessors used to say: be pious servants of your Lord and not servants of Ramadan.
Some people, you find them to be righteous and busy with acts of worship in Ramadan but when Ramadan is out they turn from being pious servants of Allah to servants of the devil.
This is not the objective of Allah in the fasting He has made obligatory on His servants. Indeed, Allah wanted fasting especially in the Month of Ramadan to be a school where a Muslim trains himself to worship Allah and abide by His commandments, and to avoid what He has forbidden, and not to commit sin and that which angers Him.
Ramadan harvests: take a careful look at your watch
Take a careful look at your watch and look at the closest time as it is eating up seconds without stopping. Rather, it continues to run and swallows up the seconds whether you are standing, sleeping, working or not working. Remember that every moment passing, and every second passing is a part of your life, and it being recorded in your book of good and bad. So, fear Allah and strive to use your time in things that will bring you close to your Lord and will be means of your bliss and good end in this life and the hereafter.
Ramadan harvests: the condition of the Prophet during the last ten days of Ramadan.
The Prophet-peace be upon him used to honor the last ten days of Ramadan, and he used to strive in a manner that was almost beyond his ability- peace be upon him- even though Allah has forgiven him his sins, past and future. Thus, we that are perpetually in sin are more deserving to emulate the Prophet. We need to appreciate the virtues of this month and strive in it. Perhaps, Allah will be merciful to us and gift us with a gift that will be the reason for our bliss in our present and future.
Ramadan harvests: why did Allah hide the knowledge of the Night of Majesty?
Allah hide the knowledge of the Night of Majesty from His servant as mercy to them, so that they can strive in worship throughout the nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, and increase their righteous deeds so that their rewards will increase and their grades will be uplifted in the sight if Allah. (And for all are degrees from what they have done. And your Lord is not unaware of what they do). He also hide it so that those who are earnest in seeking good and keen to realize the virtues of that night will be distinct from those who are lazy and not keen about it; because whoever is keen about something will strive to achieve it. so show Allah that you are seekers of good and strive in this blessed night and gain the mercies and gifts of Allah; for the deprived is one who was deprived from the goodness of Ramadan and wretched is the one who could not gain the forgiveness of Allah in this Month. The Prophet-peace be upon him- said: “whoever witnesses Ramadan without being forgiven is lost” (reported by Ibn Hiban and Al-Hakim and authenticated by Albany)
Ramadan harvests: deprivation and loss
It is indeed a great deprivation and loss to find that the blessed nights of Ramadan pass by many Muslims while they are in heedlessness turning away. Hence, they spend these expensive moments in things that are not beneficial to them. They stay awake all night or most part of it in play and amusement or doing things not beneficial at all or has very little benefit that can be achieved at another time. And when it is time for the night prayer they cover themselves up in deep sleep, denying themselves a lot of good which may not be realized in another year.
Ramadan harvests: we discovered that the best thing in our life is patience
Umar Bin Al-Khataab-may Allah be pleased with him- said: “we discovered that the best thing in our life is patience”. One has to be patient; because it is not possible to achieve all your needs and desires except by patience and stuggle. One must face difficulties and strive to achieve his ends. Great things are not achieved through sleep, laziness, and following ones whims and caprices.
