سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى (1)
1. Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High,
الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّى (2)
2. Who has created (everything), and then proportioned it;
وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَى (3)
3. And Who has measured (preordainments for each and everything even to be blessed or wretched); then guided (i.e. showed mankind the right as well as wrong paths, and guided the animals to pasture);
وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَى (4)
4. And Who brings out the pasturage,
فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَى (5)
5. And then makes it dark stubble.
Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High from associates and defects in a manner that befits His Majesty, the one who created all creatures and perfected its creation, and the one who decreed all decrees. Thus, He guided each creature to that which befits it. The one caused green pasture to grow then He made it turn into dry stalks, changed to black after it was greenish.
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَى (6)
6. We shall make you to recite (the Qur'an), so you (O Muhammad ( )) shall not forget (it),
إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَى (7)
7. Except what Allah, may will, He knows what is apparent and what is hidden.
We shall make you to recite this Quran- O Prophet- a recitation you will not forget except what Allah may will which His wisdom demands that He should make him forget for a benefit which He knows. Verily, He- the Most High- knows what is obvious of speech and deeds, and what is hidden.
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَى (8)
8. And We shall make easy for you (O Muhammad ( )) the easy way (i.e. the doing of righteous deeds).
And We shall make easy for you all your affairs and that includes making the burden of receiving the message easy and making your religion easy with no difficulty in it.
فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَى (9)
1. Therefore remind (men) in case the reminder profits (them).
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشَى (10)
10. The reminder will be received by him who fears (Allah),
So admonish you people- O Prophet- according to what We have made easy of what We revealed to you and guide them to that which is beneficial for them and specifically, admonish one whom there is hope that he will receive admonition. Do not burden yourself by admonishing one whom such admonition will only increase him in insolence and alienation. The one who fears his Lord will receive admonition.
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى (11)
11. But it will be avoided by the wretched,
الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَى (12)
12. Who will enter the great Fire and made to taste its burning,
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى (13)
13. Wherein he will neither die (to be in rest) nor live (a good living).
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّى (14)
14. Indeed whosoever purifies himself (by avoiding polytheism and accepting Islamic Monotheism) shall achieve success,
وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى (15)
15. And remembers (glorifies) the Name of his Lord (worships none but Allah), and prays (five compulsory prayers and Nawafil additional prayers).
And the wretched that does not fear his Lord will turn away from admonition, the one who will enter Hell Fire and feel its heat. Then, he will not die in it and rest neither will he live a life that will benefit him. Indeed the one who purifies his soul from bad habits has succeeded. And he remembers Allah, unifies Him, calls upon Him and does what pleases Him, and establishes the prayers regularly seeking the pleasure of Allah and obeying His laws.
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا (16)
16. Nay, you prefer the life of this world;
Verily, you- O People- prefer the adornments of this worldly life to the pleasure of the hereafter.
وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى (17)
17. Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
And the life of the hereafter together with what is in it of everlasting pleasure is better and more lasting.
إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى (18)
18. Verily! This is in the former Scriptures,
صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى (19)
19. The Scriptures of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Musa (Moses).
Verily, what you have been informed about in this chapter is what is established in meaning in the scriptures revealed before the Quran, which are the scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa.
