1. When the heaven is cleft asunder.
2. And when the stars have fallen and scattered;
3. And when the seas are burst forth;
4. And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents)
5. (Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
When the heaven is split apart such that its system becomes disordered, when the stars have fallen and scattered, when the seas are caused by Allah to overflow in each other, thus its water is gone, when the graves are turned upside down with the resurrection of its inhabitants, at that time every soul shall know its deeds, that which it has sent forth and that which it had left behind and it shall be rewarded.
5. O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
7. Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
8. In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
O man who denies resurrection, what is deceiving you about your Lord who is generous with many good, who is most deserving of gratitude and obedience. Was He not the One who created you, perfected your creation and gave you due proportion and put you together to carry out your function, and in whatever form He willed, he created you?
9. Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds).
10. But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you,
1. Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds),
12. They know all that you do.
The issue is not as you are saying that your worship of other than Allah is right. In fact, you deny the day of reckoning and reward. And indeed, over you are angels watching you, honorable to Allah, writing what they have been assigned to count. Nothing of your deeds escapes them, they know all that you do of good and evil.
13. Verily, the Abrar (pious and righteous) will be in delight (Paradise);
Verily, the righteous ones who fulfill the rights of Allah and His servants will be in delight.
1. And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell),
2. In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense,
16. And they (Al-Fujjar) will not be absent therefrom (i.e. will not go out from the Hell).
And the evil doers who did not fulfill the rights of Allah and His servant will be in Hell Fire, its flame will reach them on the day of recompense, and they will not be absent from the punishment of Hell Fire, neither by coming out of it nor by death.
17. And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
18. Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
19. (It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
And what will make you realize the greatness of the Day of Recompense, and again what will make you realize the greatness of the Day of Recompense? On the Day of Recompense no one can benefit another, and the matter on that day will be with Allah alone who cannot be conquered by anybody and no one can contend with Him.
